Vegetarian French Onion Soup!

Hi guys! Long time, no blog! Oh my Bob, I have been so sick. So sick! I had a viral infection, bronchitis, and pink eye in not one eye but two! Luck was on my side...bad luck that is.So for about two weeks I didn't do much of anything. I kept thinking about how my blog and Youtube channels were neglected. There was no way I could do Youtube videos with pink eye. I wasn't cooking much or doing much of anything, so my blog was also neglected also. I feel like this post will make up for it though.
Vegetarian French Onion Soup. A moment of silence please!
Okay, we're done with that.
French Onion Soup is amazing, but vegetable stock just doesn't cut it with this recipe. It just needs more, and I've come up with a way to give it that little something extra without using beef broth.
2 Cans of vegetable broth
1 Container of fresh mushrooms
1/2 Teaspoon of salt
1/2 Teaspoon of pepper
6 Springs of fresh thyme
6 Springs of fresh parsley
1 Bay leaf
3 Tablespoons of unsalted butter
2 Large yellow onions
1 Teaspoon of sugar
1 Small baguette cut into small slices
Swiss cheese and smoked Gouda

Over medium heat, add vegetable broth. salt and pepper, thyme. parsley, and bay leaf. Add a can of water. Wash mushrooms and stir into broth. Leave simmer for about an hour, stirring occasionally. After 30 minutes, in a separate and oven safe pot, start to glaze the onions. Melt butter and slice the onions. Add the onions to the pot, stirring in the sugar. The sugar will help the onions to glaze. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Continue glazing for 30 minutes, stirring every few minutes. It's a process, but it's worth it! Remove the parsley, bay leaf, and thyme from the broth. You can keep the mushrooms in if you like, but I removed them as well. I wanted it to be strictly French Onion Soup. Add the broth to the onions. Slice a couple of pieces of baguette and toast them in the oven. Add it on top. Add the cheese on top of that and put the oven safe pot in the oven until the cheese has started to turn a nice golden color and is completely melted.
Serve and enjoy!
Serves about 5.

Vegetarian Breakfast Hash!

Breakfast food is one of my favorite things in this world! Yes this is a "breakfast hash", no it does not have to be for just breakfast. This tasty meal is great at any time of the day. This is a great recipe because you can tweak it to how you like it. You don't need everything that I added, and you can add more! Breakfast hash is one of those meals you can throw together with whatever you have at home. It's the gumbo of breakfast foods!
Salt and Pepper
Olive Oil

Heat a small skillet to medium heat. Add a little bit of olive oil and a teaspoon of butter. The olive oil will prevent the butter from burning. Dice up a small potato and add it to the skillet.

Sprinkle some salt and pepper and stir potatoes every few minutes to prevent them from sticking to the pan. Cook until crispy yet almost tender. Chop a half of an onion and add that to the skillet as well. Finely chop one garlic clove, and add it to the skillet. You can use can, fresh, or frozen spinach. I used can because it's what I had at my house. Add as much spinach as you like to the skillet. I added about a tablespoon or two. Dice a tomato and add that as well. Cook until the potatoes and onions are tender. Add salt and pepper. In another skillet, melt about a teaspoon of butter. Cook a sunny side up egg. Add some cheese on top of both the egg and the hash. I used taco mix cheese, but shredded cheddar would be good as well. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the egg. Place the egg over the hash!

Remember, you can add whatever you like to this. Peppers, mushrooms, meat, etc.! I have some very exciting news! I'm going to do a Harry Potter recipe week very soon! Yay! I was considering waiting until the last week of July, being Harry Potter's birthday and all, but I don't think I can wait that long. No, I know I can't wait that long! I am so excited for this, and cannot wait until HP Week on my blog begins!

Target Box!

Hey guys! So my boyfriend's sister is amazing, and ordered me a Target box! How sweet is she. Target boxes cost $7 and come out every few months. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's seasonal. Don't quote me though, this is my first one. These boxes aren't a subscription, so you have to remember to purchase it. It's a bit different from Birchbox, Ipsy, etc.

This Target box included a Vera Wang perfume sample. Now I have a pretty bad cold, and have no idea what this smells like! I believe it's suppose to have a floral scent. 1 fl oz. of this cost $29.99.

This Eco Tools recycled sponge is $1.97. Right now, Target is offering 50% off  Eco Tools products when you spend $10 on select Burt's Bees products. These Soapbox coconut shampoo and conditioners are $5.99 each for a 16 oz.

I tried this L'Oreal Paris Air Blown Texture Mist while straightening my hair. It didn't do much. I have yet to try it with a hair dryer, which I believe is the key to it. This bottle is just $3.99!

Mayfair body creme...I use to live in a neighborhood named Mayfair! This bottle is $8.99. The Target box is already worth a decent amount more than $7, so you really are getting your money's worth! This Skinfix Lip Repair Balm is $4.99. My boyfriend's sister loves it! I have a ton pf lip balms to use, so I haven't given this one a go yet.

I was SOOO excited to get this! I'm currently testing it out, so we'll see how I like this. The Derma E Hydrating Night Creme is $25.99 for 2 0z, however, it is currently on sale for $20.09.

These cushion foundations are the latest gimmick. These sample is great because it comes with three different shades. A full size of the Lneige BB Cushion is $34! Wow!

I really like nail stickers. Sometimes I'm just too lazy to put in the effort to paint my nails or make cute designs. I find nail stickers last a long time too! These ones from Incoco are so cute. They range from $4.99-$6.99.

As you can see, this box is worth well over $7.00. There are full sized products, and the ones that are samples, are great sizes! They're more like travel sizes!

Trying British Candy and Soda!

Hey guys, long time no blog! Man, I was on a roll too...I've been pretty sick lately. No surprise there...As of lately I've had almost no energy and have been drifting off to sleep throughout the whole day. I apologize for neglecting my blog. I guess I'll give you a brief update before we get into the reason for this blog. First, I cut off most of my hair!
Do you like it? A friend of mine did it. Her name is Megan and her salon is called Rockerhead. It's down South Street in Center City Philadelphia. If you're ever in the area and need yo hair did, check this place out. Megan and her grandmother are so sweet! And tell them Christine sent you!
Secondly, I made a new channel. Heyyy!
My new channel!
It's a channel for movie reviews, recaps on RAW and The Challenge, movie hauls, and more! If you subscribe, we'll be best friends!!!
Now, lets get to business.
I got my candy and sodas from Jolly Grub.
The shipping and handling is a bit pricey. I think it was $11, but that's not too bad when you think about it. They're shipping food, which isn't cheap to do. Some of the things come in glass bottles, and they package it great! Also, it comes so fast.
Let's start off with candy!
Aero Bar
Let me just say, yessss British people! You are doing it so right with this piece of heaven right here! I am so sad that I will have to go back to our peppermint candies. :'( This bar tasted AMAZING! It's light and has a much more authentic peppermint taste than peppermint patties, and other candies like that. The candy bar has these bubbles, which is so cool! It gets cooler...
Do you see how green the inside of this thing is? I love it! Now I wish I had another Aero bar! This one gets a 10/10!
Flake Bar
The look of this bar is a bit off putting. I'm not gonna lie, I think it looks like poo. However, it's actually really good. Like the wrapper says, it really is the flakiest and crumbliest piece of chocolate. This bar is also really light. I always heard British chocolate was much higher quality, and I have to agree. This was also really good. It was my boyfriends favorite. I would give this one a....9/10! My only complaint is it's a bit messy.
 Curly Wurly
We have Cadbury chocolate in the states, but there is so much more to choose from than what we typically get here. I'm not gonna lie, I bought this one for the way it looked. It looks really cool, don't you think. Again, I feel like the chocolate is higher quality. The caramel was that really sticky kind. Kind of like the ones you find in a Sugar Daddy for all my U.S readers out there. I don't like the sticky caramel, but it did taste really good. This was my boyfriend's other favorite. I think my second favorite was the flake bar. This one is tied for third for me. I'd give it an 8/10!
Galaxy Bubbles
Galaxy Bubbles was essentially the Aero bar without the mint in it. So I obviously really liked it. I prefer mint and chocolate to just plain chocolate. We got the milk chocolate one. They also had an orange and chocolate one. I'd like to try that one too. I'd give this an 8/10.
 Dip Dab
This was actually recommended to me from the girls from the Reflection youtube channel. If you check them out, tell them Christine from Christine's World says heyyyy!
This one was not for me...or my boyfriend. It was really creamy, yet sour at the same time. It was an odd mixture for me and I didn't like it very much. I would give it a 2/10.
Now on to the sodas...
Fentimans Curiosity Cola
First of all, the bottle is so cool looking! Why can't our sodas come in cool bottles? There are several differences between U.S cola and British Cola. In this soda, they use sugar cane and fermented ginger root. I've had soda's with cane sugar before, and I don't mind it at all. I did however mind this! My brother liked it, my boyfriend wasn't much of a fan, but I HATED it! I think it was the fermented ginger. For some reason, it burned my tongue. I don't know why. To me, this tasted like Root Beer and Dr. Pepper got together and had a baby. I Hate Root Beer and Dr, Pepper. I'd give this a 2/10. I feel like I could get use to it if I absolutely had to drink it, but I rather never drink it again.
Fentimans Cherrytree Cola
Again, very cool bottle. Again, I hated this one as well. haha It tasted like Dr. Pepper and burned my tongue. Yuck! My brother liked this as well, my boyfriend thought it was okay, and I HATED it as much as the other. 2/10
 Irn Bru
This was the last soda I got. It tasted like a cream soda. I don't love cream sodas, but they're not awful. This was the best one in my opinion. I would give this a 5/10. If you like cram soda, you'll like this

My whole purchase from Jolly Grub, tax and shipping included, was about $22. I don't think that was too bad. Have you ever tried any of these? What did you think? Are there any other candies and drinks I should try? Jolly Grub has so much on their site. There's desserts, cereals, crisps, teas, Canadian candy Indian candy, and more! I will for sure be ordering from them again!

Last Shift Movie Review!

A lot of times when I find a horror movie on Netflix, I can't even make it halfway before I turn it off. I was pretty sure this would be another one of those times. Finding hidden gems on Netflix can be far and in between, but I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I saw this movie a few weeks ago, so lets hope my memory is fresh!
Last Shift was directed by Anthony Diblasi. I'm pretty sure I've never watched a movie he's directed before. The movie stars Juliana Harkavy and Joshua Mickel.
Last Shift is about a rookie cop who spends her first day patrolling an old police station. She's pretty much alone until a few guys come to clear out the evidence room.
The movie starts off with an officer seemingly terrorized by something...what, I don't know. They never say what caused his freak out. I guess we can assume he was experiencing something paranormal since that's what this movie is pretty much about. That or he was just crazy.
This officer tells the rookie cop Jessica that the night should be pretty dead. (No pun intended.) All calls are going to the new police station, and at most, she may come across a few wanderers. Jessica will be alone, until four guys come to retrieve the evidence. She soon finds out she is not as alone as she thought. She begins getting phone calls from a girl in distress. Jessica tries to help, but she doesn't have many resources to. I really like Jessica's character. You find yourself rooting for he, especially when she is trying her best to help this girl.
At first, you're not sure what direction this movie is going in. Is it another redundant ghost story, is there energy from the evidence, or is there more to the story? As the movie goes on, you find out there is more...much more. The story line is a bit more original and well thought out. One thing I really liked about this movie, Jessica isn't there by accident. It's not random, but you have no idea what the connection is until the movie goes on. I don't think it's easily guessed until you have more clues.
I actually don't have many negative comments about this movie. Lets start with the acting. It was quite good. I really don't have anything bad to say about any of the actors, which is refreshing. This movie has a very creepy feel. The cool thing is, they didn't need a ton of special effects to achieve that level of creepiness. This movie surprises you, tricks you, and keeps you on your toes. The scares are pretty good too! There are both psychological scares and jump scares. The psychological scares are actually scary. The one thing I didn't like about this movie is that the main character can be very frustrating. She has her fair share of stupidity throughout this movie. Part of me wanted to jump through the screen and hit her over the head with her baton. It got to the point where I actually yelled at the screen and even face palmed myself...but, that's pretty much as negative I can get. I was confused on one part. There is a scene where Jessica interacts with what we can assume is a prostitute...(I actually liked this character, and wish there was more of her in this film.)...the feeling I got from her was that she was a part of the haunting somehow, but I don't know how. They never really connected the dots there. Or maybe it just went over my head. If you've watched this movie and you understand her character, please fill me in!
Now the ending, I liked it. I didn't guess it. My boyfriend eventually caught on and guessed it, but I didn't. The ending was different than what you see in most horror films, and the very end of it was great! If you can't tell, I obviously recommend this movie. Just be prepared to face palm yourself a couple of times.

The Forest Movie Review!

The Forest is directed by Jason Zada, who is known for directing the popular The Houses October Built. I really was not a fan of The Houses October Built. I found it boring and not scary actually, but a lot of people rave about that movie.
The Forest is about a woman named Sara who travels to Japan to find her sister Jess. Sara finds out Jess went into the suicide forest, and despite several warnings from locals, Sara insists on finding her sister.
The Forest stars Natalie Dormer and Taylor Kinney.
I found The Forest to be better than The Houses October Built, but that doesn't mean this is a great movie...it's not. The first thing that comes to my mind is jump scares! There are a lot of them...in fact, I would say that the scares in this movie are 95% jump scares. Jump scares scare you for a few seconds. The loud noise happens or the creepy thing is loud, you jump, you get over it. There's no real substance to the scares. Anyone can make a jump scare, but it takes more talent and imagination to make your audience truly scared. Psychological scares shake you to your core and make you think about what scared you over and over again. The Forest doesn't really have many of those. The story line is a great one! It's interesting and different, and the fact that this is a real place adds to the creepiness. As the movie goes on, you are informed different little things about the forest. I was curious to know if those things were true. The acting is pretty good. You don't get too attached to the characters, but you like them enough that you don't want anything bad to happen to them. You can feel the connection between Sara and Jess, which is important. There are a few flashbacks, and I wasn't too impressed with how they turned out. I can't put my finger on it, but the flashbacks to the girls' childhood just didn't work for me. Some scenes scared me, others didn't at all. The ones that did were almost always the superficial jump scares. The ending was crazy predictable. I predicted the ending about half way into the movie, maybe even before. There is a scene at the ending that is so stupid. I won't give it away, but oh my, it was DUMB! All and all, I think this movie was simply okay. It's worth seeing if you really want to or just love horror, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. If you saw this movie, let me know what you thought of it!

Eggplant Casserole Recipe!

So this recipe is super easy, and healthier than your typical Eggplant Parm! You can add or leave out ingredients, and really make this your own!
What you need!
1 Eggplant.
1 Small onion.
1 Bell Pepper.
Tomato sauce.
Olive Oil.
Salt and pepper.
Shredded Mozzarella cheese.
(Optional) Chili pepper flakes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. On medium heat, heat an oven safe pan. Finely chop one clove of garlic. Add enough olive oil to cover the pan. Lower heat to low and add garlic. Peel and chop eggplant. Add the eggplant to the pan and stir. Turn the heat back up to medium, and add more olive oil if needed. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a half of teaspoon of salt and pepper. Chop the pepper, onion, tomato (I use plum), and  mushrooms if needed. I use about a half of cup of mushrooms. Add the peppers first. Let cook for a few minutes, then add the onion. Allow that to cook for a few minutes before adding the mushrooms and tomatoes. Continue cooking for about 5 more minutes. Stir in a pinch more of salt and pepper. For a bit of a spice, add a teaspoon of chili pepper flakes. Stir in about four tablespoons of tomato sauce. Remove from heat. Place in the oven for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top and cook for another 5-10 minutes. (Until eggplant is tender.) Enjoy!

My Favorite Childhood Shows!

Everyone feels a bit nostalgic, but I feel like 90s kids are the most nostalgic of them all. Today, my little brother and I watched Sabrina the Teenage Witch the movie. Now I am feeling super nostalgic and missing all the great shows I use to watch as a kid. My little brother likes the Disney channel and Nickelodeon, but the shows can be...well...awful! Yes, some of the shows I watched probably weren't the best. However, there are a few shows he likes where the acting is quite atrocious and the clothes they put on these kids...
Anyway, here are my top ten 90s shows.
10. All That - When I was little, my grandparents took us camping every summer all summer long. We had both a trailer and a tent. So, it wasn't traditional camping which I prefer, but at this campground, you had the option of cable. My grandfather needed cable. How else was he going to yell at CNN every night? At night, or on rainy days, we would watch Nickelodeon and the Disney channel. Most people didn't have cable back then, so it was such a treat. All That was one of me and my sister's favorite shows. I liked Lori Beth and Kenan.
9. Hey Arnold - Hey Arnold was one of the few cartoons I really liked. My favorite episodes were the Stoop Kid one (Stoop Kid's stoop looked awesome! I wouldn't leave it very often either.) and the headless horseman one. I loved that one so much!
8. The Jersey - When I was little, I would visit my grandparents often. One day they picked me and my sister up from school. They told us they had a surprise for us at the house. They brought us in the kitchen and my grandfather turned on the tv. Nickelodeon was on. We were so excited! Cable still wasn't a very big thing. That night we watched Nickelodeon while we ate dinner. The Disney channel you had to pay extra for, but it was included in the package when we went camping. I cherished the moments when I was able to watch my second favorite Disney channel show, The Jersey. I read the other day Michael Galeota passed away. R.I.P! He was only 31.
7.  Clarissa Explains It All - When I think of the 90s, I think of Melissa Joan Hart! I still love her. I get so excited to watch anything with Melissa in it. She was one of, maybe even my favorite celebrity as a kid.
6. So Weird - I always found the paranormal interesting, even when I was a kid. This was my favorite Disney channel show ever. I feel like Disney would never bring a show like this back, and they really should. It was great!
5. Kenan and Kel - One word...Kel! I loved Kel! He was so funny, and always made me laugh.
4. Are You Afraid of the Dark - Is it any surprise that this was my favorite Nickelodeon show? No, probably not. There was always at least one episode of AYAOTD that made you feel like you may just poop your pants, but it was so addicting. I also loved the movies! I wish you could find them somewhere,
3. Home Improvement - They don't make family comedies like this anymore! I love Tim Allen. He was hilarious! I miss this show.
2. Sabrina the Teenage Witch - After number 7, I'm sure you all saw this one coming. I loved the movie and the show so much! I think the first season was the best, but that's probably because Jenny was my favorite of Sabrina's friends. I was pretty disappointed when she didn't return. My favorite episode was when Jenny traveled to the other relm.
1. Boy Meets World - Boy Meets World may just be my favorite show of all time. I saw every episode multiple times. It was funny, serious, relatable, had meaning, and FEENY FFFFEENNNYYY! FEENY! Eric and Mr. Feeny are reason enough to love Boy Meets World.

Honorable Mentions - Not a kid's show, but I loved Beyond Belief so so much! I still watch it on Youtube once and a while. If you like the paranormal, check this show out! You won't regret it. The Famous Jett Jackson, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Figure It Out, and Hey Arnold!
What were your favorite shows when you were young?

Ulta Haul!

Hey guys! For Christmas this year, a friend got me a $25 Ulta gift card. I picked up a few things recently, and decided to do my first beauty blog of 2016.  I picked up some things I've tried and loved and other things I haven't tried at all.
Well, I finally got an Ulta magazine. Ulta stopped sending me magazines to my house and with my orders for about two years now. My friends still get them sent to their homes and when they place an online order. For the longest time, Ulta forgot about me. Maybe now they will start sending them to my house again. Here's hoping.
The first thing I needed were some pore strips. My pores needed some TLC. There is only one brand of pore strips I like. The Formula 10.0.6 brand is the only brand I've tried that actually works and works great! I love these so much! Plus, they're not too harsh on my skin. My skin is always so soft after using one.
Like I said, my pores really needed some TLC. I've always been a huge fan of these Montagne Jeunese masks. They're affordable, fun, and work pretty nicely. I've done two different blog posts in the past. Each one includes embarrassing pictures of me in the masks. To keep the tradition alive, I'll be reviewing these, embarrassing pictures and all, in a later blog post. Until then, here are the other posts.
Montagne Jeunesse post 1.
Montagne Jeunese post 2.
I got the Mint Choc Chip and Hot Spring Sauna. I've never tried either one of these before. I did however try one of their warming masks, which is what the Hot Spring Sauna is. I really liked it, so I am so excited to try these two out!
I'm running low on concealer, so I decided to give a new one a go. I got the NYX HD concealer. I will be reviewing this most likely on my Youtube Channel. About eight or nine months ago, I reviewed the NYX concealer in a jar. You can watch that here. Maybe I'll do a blog post on my top concealers. I've tried many. I love a good concealer.
NYX products were buy one get one half off, so I picked up a gold glitter liner. I needed a new one. My dots one, which I love, was pretty much empty/dried out.
I really really needed a new angled brush. The one I use for my brows is just done. I bought this great brush set years ago. When I say years, I mean years! It was about six years ago. You can just guess how bad of shape this brush is in. I still have about five of the brushes in that kit. One being that angled brush. It is the one that is in the worse condition. The others are actually still holding up decently, but it was time to retire this brush. I bought this Essence of Beauty angled brush. Technically, it's an eyeliner brush, but I got it for my eyebrows. I tried it out, and I adored the way my brows looked! This brush is really pretty. It's mint green with a floral design. The handle is made from cheap plastic, but it's not a deal breaker, especially since it was around two bucks!
As for samples, Ulta totally cheated me out one! I've tried both of these and love them both. I actually own the Smashbox primer, so I will just tuck that one away until I have enough samples to do a sample giveaway.
